Golf Data have been slowly converting all the bunkers to include a capillary liner that improves drainage and reduced contamination. We are so fortunate to have a client that is continually looking to improve this already world class facility. More bunkers were converted to capillary and we had a project through the very wet winter where we reshaped the large bunkers on holes 10, 11 and 14 under the guidance of the Nicklaus designer Sean Quinn.

Hazendal
Golf Data completed a par 3 / mashie course at the prestigious Hazendal wine estate. The course is now open for play and has received raving reviews from players looking for something different and fun. There is a driving range with state-of-the-art practice facility and short game area, but the highlight is an 18-hole par 3 course. Golf Data provided the client with a turnkey solution converting a derelict site, overrun with invasive species into beautifully shaped landscape with golf flanked by indigenous landscaping.

De ZalzE
Golf Data created a vision plan for the long-term improvement of the De Zalze golf course. We completed the first phase of the vision by reducing the total bunker area and reshaping new bunkers. Together with the club and estate landscapers we are planning the future projects that will not only improve the course but make the estate more sustainable.

Golf Data completed a number of small projects at CCJ Woodmead this year and began planning some future improvements with the club to be implemented over the next few years. This year’s projects included a change to the Woodmead 12th greenside bunker, repairs to the erosion of the dam walls on 2 of the course dams. Rebuilding the bridge on the 6th hole of Rocklands to a beautiful double arch rock clad bridge. We also replaced a large storm water pipe crossing the course and rebuilt and levelled a few tees including a big extension to the 13th tee on the Woodmead course.
DP World tour
The European Tour was recently rebranded as the DP World Tour for 2022. Two of the additions to their world tour are the Golf Data built and maintained Pecanwood and Steyn City courses which are due to host these prestigious events in March 2022. We are already gearing up to ensure the courses are looking as good as possible for their arrival!

Golf Data were awarded the golf course maintenance contact for Pecanwood Golf and Country club starting on 2021/05/01. We are very excited to be back maintaining the first Nicklaus course in South Africa. We look forward to taking the Pecanwood golf course back to the quality it was originally renowned for.

Golf Data were awarded the maintenance contract starting 2021/04/01. It is great to again be associated with one of South Africa’s leading estates and this quality golf course that has hosted European Tour events. The course has slipped in the rankings in recent years and we are looking to make some big improvements to the conditioning within our first year of taking over again. Golf Data are making a big impact at the Els Club by addressing the two biggest flaws the course has. The greens had become mottled with various grass types and desperately needed a resurfacing. This was done very quickly and should be ready well before the planned opening in Jan 2022 and will create a much better putting surface.
While the greens are closed, we have taken the opportunity to start a major overhaul of the bunkers. The faces had been edged up far beyond their original shape and stones were now entering the bunker. All greenside bunkers will have the grass lines brought back to their original design and bunker armour lining will be installed on the faces and new sand will be placed in all the greenside bunkers.
We will then be rectifying the grass lines of the fairway bunkers to cover the faces and sieve out all the stones from these bunkers and top up with additional sand as a short to medium term fix.
